Read on for some helpful tips!

The Office of Justice Programs (OJP) is a division of the United States Department of Justice that provides leadership and resources to improve criminal justice systems in the United States. It also funds over 4,500 local victim assistance programs across the country. Funding through the Toto Funding includes information on grant eligibility and application procedures, the Financial Guide, whistleblower protections, and performance evaluations. The Funding Customer Center also provides access to financial management resources, including grantee training, grant performance information, and past solicitations.

In order to submit an application for funding, grantees must submit detailed estimates of costs for each category of conference costs. These estimates should include any associated fees or expenses, and the PI must keep all supporting documentation. PIs should make every effort to conduct conferences via webinar or teleconference, and only conduct face-to-face meetings when necessary. However, if a face-to-face conference is required, the PI must provide a detailed cost estimate and justify all conference costs.

The Office of Justice Programs oversees three grant-making components within the DOJ. Through these grant programs, the OJP provides innovative leadership in the justice system, disseminating state-of-the-art practices across the country and supporting community-based crime-fighting initiatives. The Office of Justice Programs also administers various federal and state-appropriated grant programs and offers technical assistance and workshops for local communities. OJP also administers $107 million in federal and state funding each year.

To apply for grant funding for conference-related activities, OJP’s Funding Customer Center provides information on the requirements for conferences. OJP funds may be used for reasonable costs associated with conference-related activities. The costs for conference space, audio-visual equipment, and planning must be included in the conference budget. While OJP grants do not provide financial assistance for raffles or giveaways, conference costs can be approved for reimbursement.
